Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! It is hard to believe that we have completed the first week of school. In Reading today, we practiced the short a sound. Today we also got our very first list of Spelling words. We were very excited to practice spelling these words. The test for these words will be next Friday. We ended our Friday with Art class. This week we created name monsters. Check out the pictures of our art work. I hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!

  Happy Thursday everyone! I hope your week continues to go well. Things continue to be great in first grade. Today we took advantage of the sunshine by having gym class outside. It was so nice to be able to soak in some sun. 
  Besides enjoying the sunshine, we began work in our sight word dictionaries. We added all of the sight words we learned in kindergarten. Throughout the year, we will be adding new words we learn. This dictionary will help us to remember how to spell all of our sight words. 

On the Third Day of School

Greetings, everyone! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week. It is hard to believe that it is already Wednesday. This week continues to fly. Today in first grade we practiced writing the numbers 1, 4, and 5. We discussed the importance of using neat handwriting. We also received our first homework assignment. Just a reminder that we have gym class tomorrow. Students are permitted to wear sneakers with their uniforms. 

On the Second Day of School

Things continue to be fantastic in first grade. Today we reviewed some of the things we learned in kindergarten including beginning letter sounds and syllables. The highlight of our day was music class. Mr. Rhoades is one funny teacher. I thought I share some pictures of our classroom. I hope everyone can make it to Open House on September 12th. 

Happy First Day of School!

It was an exciting first day of school in Room 102. We were excited to see our old friends and meet new friends. After meeting and greeting everyone, it was time to get to work. We unpacked all of our supplies and loaded our desks' with the books we will be using this year. Room 102 then took a break  to read some books and share our summer memories. So far, first grade is off to a great start.
