Remembering Good Friday!

Greetings! Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the warm weather. Just seeing the sunshine brings a smile to my face.

Our day started with excitement. Our eggs hatched! The students were greeted to a cracked egg and chick this morning. Later in the day, we named our chick and wrote about it.

In Religion class today, we talked about the events of Good Friday. We talked about Jesus being arrested, crowned with a crown of thorns, and his walk up the hill. We created a simple cross scene to remember what Jesus did for us. Here are some pictures.

In Language Arts, we worked in our small reading groups. We are working hard at building our fluency and comprehension skills.

In Math class, we continued our weight measurement fun. Today we used our balance to weigh an eraser, scissors, pencil, marker, two crayons, and a glue stick. We used linking cubes and pennies to weigh each object. We are really enjoying measuring!

We ended our morning with some Easter fun. The other first grade class joined us as we worked in Easter themed centers. We unscrambled sight words, sorted words based on number on syllables, sorted words based on whether they were a noun, verb, or adjective, built compound words, and built math facts. It was an 'eggs-lecent' time.

This afternoon, we watched a movie. We enjoyed Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Have a great night!
