Measurement Fun!

Greetings! Happy Tuesday! I hope you were able to enjoy some of the sunshine today. It was really hard to come in from recess.

In Religion class this morning, we talked about how Jesus healed people. We talked about how he raised Jarius' daughter and how he cured the men with leprosy. We then talked about how Jesus still helps us today. We created a poster to help us remember this.

We continued with our week of learning in Language Arts. We began by answering questions using our oral vocabulary words. Then we used our letter tiles to spell and read r-controlled -ar words. Following that, we learned some irregular plurals (men, sheep, teeth, etc). Next, we practiced using our sight words and vocabulary words in sentences. We ended our morning focused on building our comprehension skills; this week we are working on point of view. We reread A Barn Full of Hats and wrote about how different characters feel. We then read our decodable reader and wrote about how the characters felt in that story as well.

This afternoon in Language Arts, we learned how to join sentences using so and because.

Math class was loads of fun today. We focused on measuring different objects using different things. In the spirit of Dr. Seuss, we used goldfish to measure different fish. We then measured different Dr. Seuss characters using linking cubes. With both papers, we learned how to use a ruler to measure them. And, to top it off, we created a fish using our handprint. We then measured it using goldfish, linking cubes, centimeters, and inches. We fell in love with measurement today!

Have a great night!
