Greetings! I hope everyone had a fantastic day. We sure did in first grade.
In Religion class today we wrapped up our chapter about sharing God's love. We talked about ways we show love to others and God.
In Language Arts, we reviewed our oral vocabulary words. We then practiced reading words with the r-controlled -air, -are, and -ear and r-controlled syllable words. Following that we reviewed our sight words and vocabulary words. Our focus then switched to fluency and comprehension. We partner read a story in our decodable reader booklets. We also read Happy Birthday USA, a nonfiction story about the history of the 4th of July. Following reading that story we completed pages in our close reading companion. We ended class by reviewing how to write abbreviations.
In Math class today we talked about quarters. We learned what quarters look like and what their value is. We also exchanged a quarter for other coins. Tomorrow we will be counting with quarters.
Just a reminder that tomorrow is Gym day. Please remember your sneakers!
