Making an Insect!

Greetings! Happy Friday! I hope everyone is doing well. We had a great day to end our week.

At Mass this morning, we remembered St. Padre Pio. Fr. Brian talked to us about always having faith and praying to St. Padre Pio for guidance.

We wrapped up another week of learning in Language Arts. We used our oral vocabulary words in sentences, read l-blend words and plurals, and wrote sentences using our sight words. To help our fluency and comprehension skills grow, we partner read a story from our decodable reader booklets. We also read a story about the needs of pets and completed pages in our close reading companion that helped us find details in a story. Finally, we took our weekly assessment.

In Math class, we continued to practice adding. Students worked with a partner to solve addition problems.

In Science class, we learned about insects. We learned that all insects have 3 body parts (head, thorax, abdomen) and 6 legs. We used our Play-doh to make an insect. The students were very creative with their insects.

We ended our day with Art class. Today we made a worm coming out of an apple. This is the kick start to next week which will be apple week in first grade!

Here are pictures of today's art project and the owls we made a few weeks ago:

Have a great weekend!
