Greeting! Today was a fabulous second day of school!
We began our day with Mass. Fr. Brian reminded us to turn to Jesus this school year. He also offered a special blessing for us.
After Mass, we began our Language Arts class. This will be a big year in terms of reading growth. We began by reviewing the letters s, m, a, p, and t. We also reviewed the sight words I, he, can do, you, like. We also worked on our comprehension skills. We listened to the poem "1, 2, Buckle My Shoe". Afterwards, we drew pictures to show the order of what happens in the poem. Our review of the alphabet and sight words learned in kindergarten will continue next week.
Over the course of the next week, we will be talking about classroom expectation. Each one will introduce us to a character. We will read a story and talk about what the behavior means. Today, we met Respectful Rooster. We talked about what it means to be respectful.
In Math class today, we continued to work with the numbers to 10. Today, we practiced counting backwards.
We had our first Science lesson of the year. Today, we talked about how animal traits help us identify which animal it is. We looked at pictures of baby birds and helped identify its parent by looking closely at its traits.
We ended our day with Art class. Today, we created a school bus. The children did an excellent job at listening while we assembled our project.
Have a wonderful weekend!
