Greetings! Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone is doing well and is getting ready for the holiday this week!
In Religion class today we continued our discussion on Advent. We reviewed that Advent is a time of waiting and preparing for Jesus. We also reviewed the Advent wreath. In addition, we talked about how we can spend some extra minutes praying to help us prepare for Jesus' birth.
In Language Arts class, we practiced reading our sight words in sentences. We, then, worked on our fluency and comprehension as we read The Big Yuca Plant. The children really enjoyed reading this play. After reading it, we completed pages in our Reading/Writing companion that focused on characterization. Finally, we practiced using present tense verbs in sentences.
In Math class today, we learned how to add by making 10 and then counting on. We used our linking cubes to help make the 10.
We ended our day with our annual first grade Thanksgiving feast. We watched A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. We then shared a meal of bread, jelly beans, pretzels, and popcorn just like they had in the movie. We loved our feast today!
Here is a picture from the decorative corn we painted yesterday.
Have a great night!
