Greetings! Happy Wednesday! Is everyone excited for
tomorrow? Everyone in first grade sure is!
In Religion class today, we made an Advent wreath to use at
home. The students are bringing home paper flames to add to the wreath during
Advent. They are encouraged to “light” a candle each week as we prepare for
Jesus’ birth.
We spent some time today learning about the very first
Thanksgiving. We talked about how the Native Americans helped the Pilgrims and
how the Pilgrims wanted to show their thanks. We talked about what they ate and
did during their three day celebration.
Next, we talked about what we to today to celebrate
Thanksgiving. We focused on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. We read Balloons Over Broadway which told the
story of the puppeteer who helped design the balloons for the parade. Next, we
created our own balloon for the parade. We wrote about and even had our own
parade in the classroom.
Finally, since we missed Art last Friday, we made a Pilgrim
Pete the Cat.
I hope everyone has a blessed and happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy
time with family and friends. Relax and enjoy the good food! See you on
Tuesday!
