It's a Cold One!

Greetings! Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone is staying warm this week!

In Religion class today, we wrapped up our chapters on the Christmas story. Next, we will learn about young Jesus' life.

We continued with our week of learning in first grade. We began by reviewing the oral vocabulary words we learned yesterday and by learning three new words (enormous, responsibility, and delighted). Next, we worked on rereading for to find details as we read a folktale about a little red hen. Then, we used our letter tiles to spell and read oo and u words. Following that, we learned how to spell and read words with inflected endings when the final letter is doubled. After that, we practiced using our sight words in sentences. We ended the morning focusing on building our comprehension. We reread A Look at Breakfast. After reading the story, we wrote facts that we learned and sequenced the steps in making orange juice.

This afternoon in Language Arts we practiced writing contractions with not.

In Math class today, we used our critical thinking skills to solve problems. We wrote sentences describing a pattern. We solved for missing numbers and created a pattern with numbers that were in random order.

We ended our day with some penguin learning. Today, we learned how the different parts of a penguin help it survive. We also learned where different types of penguins live.

Have a great night!
