The Gingerbread Man!

Greetings! Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a good week!

In Religion class today, we talked about the third week of Advent. We talked about how the pink candle means joy and how we can bring joy to people this week. After our Advent talk, we read the story of the angel Gabriel visiting Mary and how Mary said yes to God.

In Language Arts, we reviewed our oral vocabulary words. We also practiced reading soft c, soft g, and -dge words. We also practiced spelling and reading words with inflectional endings where the final e is dropped. In addition, we practiced our sight words. To help us build our fluency and comprehension skills, we partner read a story in our decodable reader booklets. We also read The Gingerbread Man, a story the children have been waiting all week for. After reading the story, we wrote cause and effect examples from it.

This afternoon in Language Arts, we reviewed verb tenses. We practiced sorting sentences into past and future. We then sorted verbs into past, present, and future tenses.

In Math class today, we began our chapter on addition and subtraction within 20. We will begin with addition strategies. Today, we learned how to add by counting on. We used our number line to help us. We start at the biggest number and then count on to find the answer.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is a flexible instruction day. Be safe!
