Dancing Fun!

Today was a fantastic day in first grade. As can be expected for a Wednesday, Gym class was the highlight!

We began our day with Religion. Today we talked about how the Holy Spirit helped the church to grow. We learned that the first members talked to others about Jesus which helped the church to grow.

During Language Arts class, we blended and read compound words. We also practiced our sight words. Please continue to practice these words nightly! In addition we talked about verbs that end in -s. Finally, we wrote the steps in how to blow a bubble.

In Math class today, we learned the subtracting 2 facts. We used linking cubes to help us find the answers.

For Gym class today, we danced to some classic party songs like  YMCA, The Chicken Dance, and Hokey Pokey. We also danced to some less popular and more kid friendly songs Tony Chestnut and Green Jelly Bean. Everyone had fun today!

Finally, in Social Studies we talked about Martin Luther King, Jr. We talked about his dream for peace in the world. We then talked about how we can be peacemakers today.
