Greetings! Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
Today we practiced our emergency drills. We had a fire drill, lockdown drill, and severe weather drill. The children did excellent during our practices!
In Religion class today, we reviewed how God knows everything, is everywhere, is all powerful, and is all good. We also reviewed the creation story.
We began a new week of learning in Language Arts; this week we will be reading about friends. We began by learning two new oral vocabulary words (cooperate and relationship). We then worked on answering questions from a text as we read Friends All Around. Next, we learned how to blend and read short o words. We ended our morning by learning our new sight words (fun, make, they, too).
This afternoon in Language Arts, we read Toss! Kick! Hop! which helped us practice reading short o words and our sight words in sentences. We also talked about exclamatory sentences.
In Math class, we used our critical thinking skills to solve problems. We did an excellent job of explaining our thinking. We are ready for our chapter test tomorrow.
This week is Apple Week in first grade. We will be learning all things apple this week. Today, we learned about the life cycle of an apple.
We ended our day with Social Studies. We tied in our Social Studies lesson with Apple Week as we learned about Johnny Appleseed. We wrote facts about Johnny Appleseed and are in the process of adding it to a craft.
Have a great night!
