Greetings! Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fantastic Mother's Day weekend! I hope all the Moms were able to relax and enjoy themselves.
We began our week with Religion. Today we looked at the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Our emphasis today was on how the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus. We also learned that when we say "Amen" we are saying "Yes, I believe".
We began Language Arts class by working in our literacy centers to continue to build our fluency and comprehension skills. Following that we jumped back into our week of learning. Today we reviewed our oral vocabulary words and read words with the silent letters wr, kn, and gn. We then practiced making compound words to finish a sentence. After that we reviewed our sight words and vocabulary words. Our focus then switched to reading. We partner read a story in our decodable reader booklets. We ended the morning by reading Rain School, a realistic fiction story about children going to school in Africa.
This afternoon in Language Arts we completed pages in our close reading companion that correlated with the story. We then learned when to add commas when writing dates and letters. Finally, we wrote the topic sentence and first detail sentence in our narrative paragraph about the spring concert.
In Math class today we reviewed how to subtract without regrouping. We are really good at looking at where the bigger number is to help us subtract.
Have a great night! Stay dry!
