Greetings! Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend! We had a great start to our week in first grade!
In Religion class today, we talked about how we are all born with original sin but how that is washed away when we were baptized. We also talked about how we received the gift of grace when we were baptized.
We began a new week of learning in Language Arts; this week we will be reading about where animals live. We began by learning two new oral vocabulary words (habitat and depend). Next, we worked on rereading as we read Babies in the Bayou. After that, we learned how to blend and read words with end blends, words like lamp, pond, desk, and skunk. Then, we learned our new sight words (eat, no, of, under, who). We ended our morning by reading The Best Spot which helped us practice reading end blend words and our sight words in sentences.
This afternoon in Language Arts, we practiced identifying possessive nouns in sentences. We also learned about author's purpose. We created a pie to help us remember the three reasons authors write stories: p (persuade), i (inform), e (entertain).
In Math class today, we reviewed our numbers to 20. We practiced finishing patterns, identifying greater and less, and ordering numbers.
Here is a picture of our mummy art from Friday.
Have a great night!
