Easter Chicks

Greetings! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Friday was a great day in first grade.

We wrapped up our discussion of Easter in Religion class. Today, we made Resurrection scene posters. Here are how some of them turned out.

In Language Arts class today we wrapped up our story Tippy-Toe Chick, Go! by reviewing ou words and C+le words as well as our sight words. We also finished our study of commands.

We also did a project in honor of Earth Day, which was April 22. We read The Lorax by Dr. Seuss and talked about the importance of taking care of Earth and ways we can take care of Earth. Students wrote their responses and that was added to a picture of themselves being the Lorax. I thought they turned out fabulous.

In Math class today, we learned how to identify fractional parts of the whole. Those included halves, thirds, fourths, sixths, eighths, and tenths.

During Science class today we talked about how pushes and pulls move objects. Students worked in groups to design a maze. Then each group was given a ping pong ball. Students then had to use straws to blow the ball through the maze. Some found this quite a challenge.

Our day ended with Art class. Today we made hatching chicks which is perfect for Easter and our story this week.

Have a great rest of your weekend!
