Dinosaur Dig!

Today was an exciting day in first grade!

Our day began by attending Adoration. It was the perfect way to begin a day!

In Language Arts class today, we learned how to blend and read three letter blends. We also practiced our sight words. We then put our phonics and sight words skills to the test. Working with a partner, students practiced skills learned by playing a review game on the iPads. The app is called Reading Island. I was amazed at how well the students worked together and shared the iPad. They are looking forward to using them again.

During Math class today, we learned how to draw congruent shapes on dot paper.

Our dinosaur activity today centered around a dinosaur dig. Working in groups, students were given tweezers and a pail of sand. They had to excavate pieces from the sand. Once all pieces were found, students had to put the puzzle together. They had fun experiencing what real-life paleontologists do.

Just a reminder that we will not have gym class tomorrow because of Stations of the Cross.
