Greetings! Welcome back! It seems that I have been saying that a lot lately. We just can't string together a week without disruptions. And this week is no exception.
We began our week with Religion class. Today we learned that we all belong to a parish and that our parish is like a family working, sharing, and praying together.
We began Language Arts by working in our literacy centers to build our fluency and comprehension skills. After that we began a new week of learning. We learned our five new oral vocabulary words (survive, provide, communicate, superior, wilderness). After that we worked on asking and answering questions as we read a nonfiction piece about animals in the winter. Next, we learned how to blend and read long o words spelled o, oa, ow, and oe. Following that we learned our new sight words and vocabulary words. We ended the morning by reading Go Wild a nonfiction story about animals in the wild.
This afternoon in Language Arts we learned how to use go, went, do, and did in sentences. Finally, we began a Valentine Day writing project; these snow days are just a pain. Today we illustrated all of the things we love. We will write about them on Thursday.
In Math class today we learned how to make tally marks. They learned this last year and after a quick review remembered how to make them. We used tally marks to make a chart and then answered questions based on the chart.
Because of the snow day tomorrow, our spelling test will not be on Friday. It will be early next week. I'll send a note home on Thursday with the details. Also, we have a presentation on Thursday so we will not have gym class. If you have any questions, please let me know. Stay safe! Snuggle under a blanket, drink hot chocolate, watch a movie, or read a book. Enjoy your day!
