Greetings! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. It took us a little bit to get going this morning. I think many of us were a bit tired after staying up a little bit later than usual to watch the Super Bowl. However, once we got going, we were off and running.
The students were quite excited to tell me about watching Punxsutawney Phil Saturday morning. They were even more excited that he predicted an early spring. And after today's weather, maybe he is right. Spring might just be around the corner.
We began our day with Religion. Today we talked about how bishops lead and care for the church today. We also learned that our bishop is Bishop Mark and that he leads the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese.
We began Language Arts class by working in our literacy centers to build our fluency and comprehension skills. We then got back to work with the learning we began last Monday. We reviewed our oral vocabulary words. We then used our letter tiles to spell and read long a words spelled with ai or ay. Next, we practiced putting words into ABC order. After that we practiced using our sight words and vocabulary words in sentences.
This afternoon we reread A Tail of a Tale and wrote the sequence of events in the story. We then read our decodable reader and sequenced events in that story as well. Next we practiced using was and were in sentences. Finally, we wrote the topic sentence to our very first persuasive paragraph. This week we will be writing about why we love camping.
In Math class we practiced measuring objects by using a start line. We lined about pictures along a line and identified the shortest and longest in a set. We really enjoyed doing this today!
Have a great night!
