Valentine Mice!

Greetings! Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great day to end their week. I also hope that you find some time to relax and enjoy the weekend. The weekends always fly by!

In Religion class today we talked about how the church serves others. We also discussed ways we can help others.

In Language Arts class, we reviewed our oral vocabulary words by answering questions using the words. We also used our letter tiles to spell and read long e words. Next we looked at words with prefixes. We read the words and then defined them. We learned that "re" means again, "un" means not. and "pre" means before. Following that we practiced using our sight words and vocabulary words in sentences. Then we reread A Team of Animals and wrote the main idea and key details from the story. We ended the morning by reading our decodable reader and answering questions about the main idea and details from it.

In Math class today we wrapped up our chapter on measurement by taking our test. Next week we will begin our chapter on graphs.

Science class was lots of fun today! We talked about the importance of brushing our teeth twice a day and what happens when we don't brush them. To show the students the importance of brushing their teeth, pairs of students were given an hard boiled egg that was sitting in Coke. They egg was brown. Working together, they had to brush the egg to make it white again. They so loved getting messy!

Finally, it was time for Art class. Today we made Valentine mice using hearts. They are adorable. Have a look:

We ended our day by heading to the gym to watch the annual 8th grade vs. teachers volleyball game. The 8th grade worked so hard but came up short. Congratulations to all who participated!

Have a great weekend!
