The 99th Day of School!

Greetings! Happy Monday! Today was a very busy day of learning in first grade. It is hard to believe that we have been at this for 99 days! Time just flies by!

In Religion class today we wrapped up our chapter on the leaders of the church. We reviewed how Jesus chose Peter to be the leader of the Apostles, how the bishops do the work the Apostles did, and how the pope leads the whole church.

We began Language Arts class by working in our literacy centers to build our fluency and comprehension skills. After that we jumped into our week of learning. We reviewed our oral vocabulary words. Next we practiced reading long e words and words with prefixes. Then we reviewed our sight words and vocabulary words. Following that, we switched to reading. We partner read a story in our decodable reader booklets. We ended the morning by reading Animal Teams, a nonfiction story about how animals work together.

This afternoon, we completed pages in our close reading companion. We ended our day by practicing using has and have in sentences.

We began a new chapter in Math class today. This chapter focuses on graphs. Today we looked at picture graphs and interpreted the data we saw. The students are very good at this.

Well, it looks like our 100th day celebration will need to wait a day. We will celebrate on Wednesday. Please drive safely. I'll see you on Wednesday!
