RICH in Courage!

Greetings! I hope everyone had a great day! We sure did in first grade.

We began our day by going over to church to spend some quiet time talking to Jesus at Eucharistic Adoration. We prayed that he help those who need help and that he help us have a great day.

We began Language Arts by working in our literacy centers to build our fluency and comprehension skills. We then reviewed our oral vocabulary words, read words with long o and open syllable words, and read our word wall to review all of the sight words we have learned this year. Following that we partner read a story in our decodable reader. Finally, we practiced writing proper nouns correctly.

In Math class today we wrapped up our chapter on graphs by taking our test. The students did a great job analyzing data on both picture and bar graphs. Next up we will take a closer look at the numbers to 40.

The rest of the day was spent with our Faith Families. The students talked about what it means to have courage. They listened to the story of David and Goliath and discussed how David showed courage. They also learned about St. Joan of Arc and how she showed courage. Along with that, the students got to share a book with their prayer partner. I know many students were excited to do this.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is Wacky Wednesday. The students can wear mismatched socks or shoes to school or wear shirts backwards or inside out. However, tomorrow is NOT a jean day. Students MUST wear their uniform to school.
