Action-packed Day!

Today was another action-packed day in first grade. Days like these just fly right by. In Religion class this morning we wrapped up our chapter on God's forgiveness. We reviewed the story of the forgiving father and the sacrament of Reconciliation.

During Language Arts class, we reviewed our sight words, suffixes -ly and -ful, and the vowels in moon. We partnered read our story and then reviewed its plot by creating a book worm. The students did a great job writing the plot of the story. After that we worked in our literacy centers. This afternoon, we reviewed commands and wrote the detail sentences in our informative paragraph about ponies.

In Math class today, we learned how to add three single digit numbers. We first used pennies to help us solve the problem before moving just to mental math. To add three single digit numbers, we first pick two numbers, circle them, and add them together. Next we take that answer and add the remaining single digit. We will be practicing this skill during the last month of school.

Tomorrow will be an exciting day in school.
