Happy Earth Day!

Greetings, everyone! Today was a good day in first grade. The students were amazed to see snow falling today. I think they loved the idea of snow but were missing the warm weather we had a few days ago.

In Religion class today we talked about how Jesus asks us to forgive others. We talked about how that is not always easy to do. To help with that, we discussed praying to God and asking Him to help us.

During Language Arts class, we reviewed diphthong ow, C+le words, and our sight words. We then read and discussed our story Tippy-Toe Chick, Go!. The students loved seeing how each trick tried to solve the problem and how Little Chick was able to do it. From reading the story, we learned that you don't have to be big to solve a problem. We ended class by writing the topic sentence in our informative paragraph about ponies.

For gym class today, we returned to the gym and used the book ABC Yoga for Kids. We did various yoga exercises and poses. The students loved it!

In Math class today, we learned how to use money to show various amounts. We used paper money to help show the prices. Please continue to practice this skill at home.

We ended our day with Social Studies class and our celebration for Earth Day. We read The Lorax and talked about ways we can help Earth like recycling, planting trees, turning off running water. We then wrote ways we can help Earth. Didn't you love them being the Lorax?

Happy Earth Day!
