Extra Gym Day!

Greetings, everyone! Today was quite a busy day in first grade that culminated with the extra gym class. The students worked hard all day so that we could enjoy this extra time.

We began our day by attending Adoration. We spent some quiet time with Jesus asking him to help us have a good day and to help us make loving choices.

In Language Arts class, we blended and read words with the vowels oo. We used our letter tiles to spell words and created a list of words in the word families -oom, -oop, and -oot. We also practiced our sight words. Next, we practiced using adjectives that compare in sentences. Finally, we worked in our literacy centers.

During Math class today we learned about the comparison symbols. Using linking cubes, students made towers of various sizes. We then used two crayons to make the comparison symbols (=, <, >) between the towers. We also practiced writing the comparison symbols on a worksheet.

Finally, it was time for the extra gym class. By popular demand, we played "Shipwreck". The students were so excited to play this again. By the time we were done, they were all sweaty and ready for a nap.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is our regular gym day.
