Amazing Students

Today was an exciting day in first grade. The other first grade class joined us for a little bit this morning. All of the students work so well together. I was amazed at how quiet it was when I was taking lunch. They are truly an amazing group of students!

In Religion class today we learned that Jesus taught about God's love and forgiveness. We read the story of the lost son (also known as the Prodigal Son) and talked about how the father is like God, always ready to forgive us. We even created stick puppets to act out the story.

During Language Arts class, we reviewed our sight words, compound words, and vowels ew, ue, and ui. We partner read our story and talked about our favorite part. We also reviewed adjectives that compare by finding them in sentences and using them in sentences. In addition, we wrote an informative paragraph on cheetahs. Finally, we worked in our literacy centers.

In Math class today we learned about capacity. We discovered that there are 2 cups in a pint, 4 cups in a quart, and 16 cups in a gallon.

Tomorrow will be exciting especially since we have Mass and Art class.
