A Dreary Day!

Greetings on this dreary Thursday. It has been a while since we have had a day like this. It was tough to get going this morning, but once we did we did not stop until the end of the day.

In Religion class this morning, we continued to talk about how Jesus healed and helped people. We read the story about how Jesus healed the paralyzed man whose friends cut a whole in the roof of a house. To help us remember that Jesus is here to help us, we created a special poster.

Language Arts class was full of learning today. We began by reviewing our oral vocabulary words. Next, to help us review short e words, we created a bird's nest. On each egg we wrote a short e word. Next we practiced adding -ed to the ends of words and using those words in sentences. For our sight word review, we rolled dice with the words on them. Which ever word we rolled, we had to use it in a sentence.

After all that reviewing it was time to practice. We partner read a story in our decodable booklet and partner read  The Red Hat. We then read a nonfiction piece about firefighters and completed pages in our close reading companion. Finally, we practiced using nouns in sentences.

For Gym class today we went down to the Gym and played "Alligator, Alligator." The students just love this activity.

In Math class today we took a test on subtraction.

We finished the day with Social Studies. First we reviewed what we learned about communities. Then our focus switched to fire safety. We talked about objects that are safe to touch and those that are not.

Tomorrow will be quite exciting. First, the firefighters will visit us tomorrow. It is also our Think Pink day. Please remember to wear pink and bring in your $2 donation!
