A Little of Reading and Math!

Greetings! Happy Monday! I hope everyone is doing well. We had a great start to our week in first grade!

In Religion class, we wrapped up our chapter on Jesus teaching and helping everyone. We reviewed the story of Zaccheaus and the stories of Jesus helping those in need. We ended class by praying the first decade of the Sorrowful Mysteries.

We began a new week of learning in Language Arts class. We began by learning two new oral vocabulary words. We then worked on making predictions as we read 3 Little Dassies. Next, we practiced blending and reading short u words. That was followed by learning our new sight words. We ended the morning by reading a fantasy story Cubs in a Hut

This afternoon in Language Arts we learned the difference between singular and plural nouns and how to use them in sentences. We then worked in our literacy centers. Finally, we began our study of pumpkins as we labeled the different parts of a pumpkin.

Our focus shifted in Math class today. Today we began our study of shapes. We learned characteristics about squares, rectangles, circles, and triangles including the number of sides and corners. Finally, we talked about different ways to sort shapes.

Enjoy your night!
