Celebrating Pumpkins!

Greetings! Happy Friday (Thursday)! The students are quite excited about being off tomorrow. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

We began our day by practicing for the All Saints' Day prayer service. The students are getting really excited about this. They can't wait for everyone to see them as their saint.

We wrapped up another week of learning in Language Arts. Today we practiced using our oral vocabulary words in sentences. Then we read words with end blends and words with inflected endings. After that we wrote sentences using our sight words.

Then it was time to work on our fluency and comprehension. We partner read two stories: one in our decodable reader and the story from yesterday. We then read a poem and completed pages in our close reading companion. We ended class by taking our weekly assessment and reviewing possessive nouns.

Gym class was a ton of fun today. We played a game called "Good Ship Spark". I would tell them a command and they had to do it. They might have to run, skip, walk, or do sit ups. They loved this game!

In Math class today we continued working with patterns. Today the students used pattern blocks to create their own patterns. They were quite creative with this.

To end our week, our friends from room 101 joined us and together we carved a pumpkin. We reviewed the steps in the process. We then had turns cleaning out the seeds and touching the innards. As I carved the pumpkin, Miss Bender read a story about the life cycle of a pumpkin. Here is our pumpkin:

Have fun trick or treating!
