Greetings! Happy Thursday! I hope everyone had a safe day yesterday. The students seemed to enjoy their midweek break but were eager to resume learning today.
In Religion class today we wrapped up our talk about the parish. We reviewed how we come together to worship and to help others.
Language Arts was full of learning today. We began by working in our literacy centers. We then reviewed our oral vocabulary words. Next we used our letter tiles to spell and read long e words. After that we learned about the prefixes un, re, and pre. We looked at their meanings and practiced reading them. Then we practiced using our sight words and vocabulary words in sentences. Following that, we switched our focus to reading. We reread Team of Fish and wrote the main idea and key details from the story.
This afternoon we read our decodable reader. We then practiced using has and have in sentences. Finally we wrote the first two detailed sentences in our paragraph on why we love the zoo.
In Gym class today, we played a game with hula hoops. Each student was given a hoop. On my signal, they had to run around the gym and find a new hoop to stand in. After each round, I removed a hoop until 1 was left. They had to work together to stand in the hoop and did very well doing that.
In Math class today we began a new chapter; our focus for the next several weeks will be the numbers to 40. Today we counted to forty and wrote the numbers in both digits and words.
We ended our day with Social Studies. Today, we identified our country's neighbors (Canada and Mexico). We then talked about how there are similiarities and differences between the countries.
Tomorrow will be a great day to end the week!
