More Celebrations!

Greetings! Today was such a great day in first grade. Today's focus for Catholic School's Week was Teacher Appreciation Day. I want to take this time to thank all of you who took the time to help your child write a note, draw a picture, or tell them to say thank you. Each kind act did not go unnoticed; I am truly grateful for everything.

In Religion class today we talked about the different ways a parish helps other people. We said that a parish works together to help people locally and globally.

In Language Arts class, we reviewed our oral vocabulary words, long a: ai, ay words, sight words, and vocabulary words. We also practiced putting words into ABC order. Our focus then went to reading. We partner read a story in our decodable reader and the story How Bat Got Its Wings. We then read a nonfiction story about bats and completed pages in our close reading companion. We ended class by writing the final descriptive sentence and concluding sentence in our paragraph on why we love camping.

In honor of Groundhog Day tomorrow, we predicted whether or not Phil will see his shadow or not. We then wrote why we want him to see his shadow or not. We added that writing to a craft. Here are some pictures:

This afternoon we watched Ratatouille. The students enjoyed it.

Tomorrow wraps up Catholic School's Week. Everyone is invited to Mass at 9AM; you are welcome to sit with us. We also have the volleyball game between the teachers and 8th grade. In between all that we have Library and Art. It will be a great day!
