Greetings! Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a super Monday (pardon the pun). We had such a super day in first grade.
With the two hour delay our day was shortened but we still managed to accomplish a lot.
In Language Arts class, we began a new week of learning. We learned our new oral vocabulary words. We then practiced asking and answering questions when reading a text. After that, we learned how to blend and read long e words spelled with e, ee, ea, or ie. We followed that up with learning our new sight words and vocabulary words.
Then it was time to put our new skills into action. We read a nonfiction piece titled A Team of Fish. The students just loved reading and looking at all the different pictures of the fish. We ended class by learning when to use has and have in sentences. We also wrote the topic sentence for our paragraph on why we love the zoo.
We spent time reviewing in Math class today. We answered questions using a picture graph and a bar graph. We are really good at this!
Just a reminder that tomorrow is the 100th day of school! Fun awaits!
