The Start of Holy Week

Happy Monday! This week begins the most important week of the year for Catholics: Holy Week. I hope this week is filled with blessings as we approach Easter.

In Religion class this week we will be looking at Holy Week. Today we focused on Palm Sunday. We read the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem and how the people greeted him by waving palm branches and laying cloaks on the ground. We made a palm branch using pieces of green construction paper.

During Language Arts class, we blended and read long i: ie, igh words. We used our letter tiles to spell words and then generated words in the -igh, -ight, and -ies word families. The students came up with so many words; I was so proud of them. We also talked about the difference between realism and fantasy. Finally, we learned adjectives for what kind.

In Math class today we ordered events by time. We learned that writing our name is quicker than drawing a clockface or putting linking cubes into ten sticks.

As promised here are some examples of the Easter eggs the students made on Friday:

Have a great night!
