ARISE!

Greetings, friends! I hope everyone is having a nice week. It was another busy day in first grade.

Throughout the diocese, parishes and schools have begun to participate in ARISE. Today, first grade completed a magazine that goes along with this program. Today we talked about how we belong to a community and how we can help others in the community. We thought of something we could do for someone who is sick.

We began Language Arts class by working in our literacy centers. Then we reviewed the oral vocabulary words we learned yesterday and learned three new ones (agree, difficult, exhausted). We then worked on answering questions from a text as we read a fable. We ended the morning by reviewing how to write sentences.

This afternoon we used our letter tiles to spell and read r-blend and s-blend words. Then we learned about possessives. After that we practiced using our sight words in sentences. Our focus then switched to reading. We reread Move and Grin and wrote details about how the animals move. We partner read our decodable reader and answered questions about it.

In between Language Arts was Math class. Today we used our thinking caps to solve problems.

Just a reminder that because of the Living Rosary tomorrow, we will not have Gym class.
