Greetings, everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. It seems like fall has finally arrived. I will admit that Saturday's temperature was a shock.
In Religion class today we completed our second week of the ARISE program. We learned that Peter answered Jesus as the Messiah when asked 'Who do you say that I am'. We also began praying the Sorrowful Mysteries this week.
We began Language Arts by working in our literacy centers to build our fluency and comprehension skills. We then began a new week of learning. We learned two new oral vocabulary words (community and occupation). Next we worked on making predictions as we read Millie Waits for the Mail. Then we practiced blending and reading short e words. That was followed by learning our 5 new sight words. We ended the morning by reading a realistic fiction story about the jobs in a boy's neighborhood titled Good Job, Ben.
This afternoon in Language Arts we talked about nouns. We know that nouns name people, places, things, and animals. We listed examples of each group that we see in our community. Then each student took one example and illustrated a picture of it. We put all of our pictures together to create a 'Noun Town.' Here is our town:
We switched focus in Math class today as we began a new chapter devoted to subtraction. We learned that subtraction means to take away, or count backwards. We used linking cubes to help us show various problems.
Have a great night!
