Greetings! Happy Tuesday! Today was another great day of learning in first grade. They really work hard each day and are so excited to learn new things.
We began our day with Religion. Today we talked about how the angel Gabriel visited Mary and told her that she would be the mother of Jesus and how she said yes. We prayed that we may always say yes to God. We ended class by praying the second decade of the Joyful Mysteries.
We began Language Arts class by learning three new oral vocabulary words (chore, collect, and deliver) and reviewing the two we learned yesterday. Next, we listened to a story about childhood games and answered questions about them. Following that we used our letter tiles to spell and read short o words. After that, we learned how to put words into ABC order. We ended our morning by using our sight words in sentences.
This afternoon we reread Toss! Kick! Hop! and wrote details about what the kids in the story did. We also read our decodable reader and answered questions about that story. After that we reviewed questions and statements by deciding whether a given sentence was asking us something or telling us something. We ended our day by writing about something we like to do in the fall.
In Math class today we practiced writing addition number sentences using number bonds. The students did very well with this.
Enjoy your night!
