Greetings! Happy Wednesday! Well, today for Red Ribbon Week we wore neon colors to show that we are "too bright" for drugs. I just loved seeing all of the colors!
In Religion class today we continued to look at how Jesus healed many people. We read the story about how Jesus helped a paralyzed man walk after his friends lowered him through a hole in the roof. We ended class by creating a picture of Jesus with the saying "Jesus is my Healer". The students really enjoyed putting the band-aids on their pictures. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures before sending them home :(.
In Language Arts class we reviewed our oral vocabulary words, read short u words, read and wrote contractions, and practiced our sight words. Following that review we partner read a story in our decodable reader booklets. We then read The Pigs, the Wolf, and the Mud. The students really enjoyed this story. This afternoon we completed pages in our close reading companion to help build our fluency. We ended our day by sorting nouns based on whether they were singular or plural.
In Math class today, we wrote subtraction sentences to solve problems. We also explored the subtracting 0 facts. To do this we used our linking cubes. We put some cubes on our desk, took zero away, and figured out how many were left. It did not take us long to see that when we subtract 0 we still have the same number.
Just a reminder that tomorrow is a jean day for the students. They are to wear a tie-dyed or Hawaiian shirt, jeans, and sneakers to school.
