Greetings! Happy Wednesday! Today was a great and busy day in first grade.
In Religion class this morning, we talked about how Jesus loved all people and wants us to do the same. We read the story of Zaccheus to illustrate this point.
In Language Arts, we reviewed our oral vocabulary words. We also practiced reading short e words and words with inflectional ending -ed. In addition, we practiced our sight words. After that we partner read a story in our decodable reader booklets. We ended the morning by reading The Red Hat, a realistic fiction story about firefighters.
This afternoon we completed pages in our close reading companion which helped us build our comprehension skills. We ended the day by learning how to use commas in a series.
In Math class today we practiced subtraction. The students worked with a partner. Each partner had a bag of numbers. They each picked a number and subtracted the bigger number from the smaller number. We are getting better with these facts.
Just a reminder that tomorrow is Gym day! Don't forget your sneakers!
Also, on a side note, I will be away the next couple of days to attend my sister's wedding. I will be back on Monday. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week and a wonderful weekend!
