Greetings, everyone! I felt so good to be back today. I was greeted this morning with hugs and smiles. I missed them as much as they missed me. Thank you for your patience while I was away. I had an amazing, fabulous time with my family.
We began our day with Religion. Today we completed our third ARISE magazine. This week's focus is on forgiving others. We talked about what it means to be merciful and gave examples of when we show forgiveness. We also began praying the Glorious Mysteries, our last set of mysteries. At the end of the week, the students will be bringing their rosaries home.
We began Language Arts class by working in our literacy centers to help build our fluency and comprehension skills. Then we began a new week of learning. We learned two new oral vocabulary words (shelter and materials). Next we worked on making predictions as we read The Three Dassies. After that we practiced blending and reading short u words. We followed that by learning our new sight words. Then it was time to put all of our new skills to work as we read Cubs in a Hut, a fantasy story about cubs building and fixing a house.
This morning our class was interrupted by a special program. The Home and School Association brought in a presenter to talk to us about fossils. We got to see dinosaur fossils!
In Math class today we practiced solving subtraction problems using number bonds. The students are doing well with this. We will continue to solve subtraction problems this week.
Just a reminder that book orders are due tomorrow! Have a good night!
