Greetings! Happy Friday, almost! It was our last school day of the week. The students are off tomorrow as the teachers head to an inservice about assessments.
We began our day by practicing for our All Saints' Day prayer service next Thursday. We just worked on the procession. The key for us is to remember to pay attention to the person in front of us.
Back in the classroom, we wrapped up our Religion chapter on Jesus helping and loving everyone. We also finished praying the Glorious Mysteries. The students brought home their rosaries today and are quite excited to continue praying with them at home.
We had a busy Language Arts class to wrap up our week. We reviewed our oral vocabulary words and used them in sentences. We read short u words and practiced writing contractions for is. Then we wrote sentences using our sight words. After that our focus switched to building our fluency and comprehension. We partner read a story in our decodable reader booklets and our story The Pigs, the Wolf, and the Mud. We ended the morning by reading a nonfiction piece about homes around the world and completed pages in our close reading companion.
This afternoon we took our weekly reading assessment and reviewed singular and plural nouns.
For Gym today, we headed outside to the playground. It was such a nice fall day, cool yet warm. The students had a blast playing with their friends.
In Math class today, we practiced solving subtraction problems. First we identified what we knew in the problem (the whole and one part) and then subtracted to find the other part.
We ended our day with Social Studies. Today we talked about why people move. We said that they move to get a better job or to be near family.
Enjoy your weekend! See you on Monday. Don't forget that the Saint costumes are due Monday!
