Greetings! Happy October! It's hard to believe that the first month of school has come and gone. September was such a great month; I can't wait to see what October brings!
We began our day by learning how to pray the rosary since October is the month of the rosary. We color -coded a rosary sheet to help us remember which prayers to say. After giving the students their own rosary, it was time to pray the first decade of the Joyful Mysteries. Each day during the month, we will pray a decade of the rosary and look at each mystery. At the end of the month, the students will bring their rosaries home for you to pray with them.
We began a new week of learning in Language Arts today; our theme for the week is friends. Before we learned new things, we worked in our literacy centers to practice the skills we worked on last week. We began our new learning by learning two new oral vocabulary words (cooperate and relationship). We then asked and answered questions as we read Friends All Around. Following that we learned how to blend and read short o words. Next we learned our new sight words. We finished the morning by reading a nonfiction story about what friends do titled Toss! Kick! Hop! This afternoon we learned the difference between questions and exclamations.
In Math class today we learned how to use number bonds to write addition sentences. We soon discovered that we can add the two numbers in any order and still get the same answer.
Enjoy your night!
