Greetings! I hope everyone had a nice (unplanned) three day weekend. Today was a busy day in first grade.
In Religion class today we continued our study on the sacrament of Baptism. We reviewed the first part of the sacrament and learned about what happens in the second part. We learned that we wear white as a reminder to always be a follower of Jesus. We also learned that we received a candle which is a reminder to always walk in the light of Christ.
Language Arts was full of reviewing and new learning today. We began by wrapping up what we learned last week. We used our oral vocabulary words in sentences, read long e words and compound words, wrote sentences using our sight words, took our weekly assessment, and reviewed adverbs that tell when.
Then it was time for new learning. We learned new oral vocabulary words, sight words, and vocabulary words. We also learned how to blend and read r-controlled ar words. We put our new skills to work as we read A Barn Full of Hats. Finally, we learned how to join sentences using and, but, or or.
Math class was all about measuring today. We learned how to measure line segments to the nearest inch. We also learned how to draw line segments to the nearest inch.
Enjoy the snow day!
