Greetings! Happy Wednesday! To quote the great artist Bon Jovi: "Ooh, we're half way there." I just cannot get over how fast this week is flying.
Today in Religion we talked about how Jesus is the Light of the World. We call Jesus this because he helps guide us and keeps us safe just like light from the sun and lights do.
Language Arts class was again full of learning today. We answered questions using our oral vocabulary words. We reviewed r-controlled er, ir, ur, and or words by using our letter tiles to spell words. Next we learned about the inflectional ending -er. We learned how to decode words with this ending and how to define these words. Then we practiced using our sight words and vocabulary words in sentences. After that our focused switched to reading. We reread A Bird Named Fern and wrote cause and effect examples from the story. We then read our decodable reader. This afternoon we continued our study of adjectives; today we focused on colors. Students finished sentences by writing a color word and then a noun. We ended the day by working in our literacy centers.
In Math class we practiced the facts of subtracting a number from 0. To do this we used a wrap-up.
The highlight of today came at lunch time. We had an extra 15 minutes of recess. The students loved this time!
Just a reminder that because of Stations tomorrow, we will not have Gym class.
