The End of March!

Greetings! Happy Friday! Today was a great day to end the month of March. We did not let the rain keep us from having fun in first grade.

In Religion class today we talked about how God is always ready to forgive us. We put a puzzle together to help us remember this.

We wrapped up our week of learning in Language Arts class today. We used our oral vocabulary and vocabulary words in sentences, read r-controlled -or words and abbreviations, and wrote sentences using our sight words. We also practiced identifying adjectives that compare in sentences. For writing today, we read the story Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and wrote about what we would like it to rain for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This was the perfect activity for a rainy day.

In Math class today we learned about the comparison symbols. We used linking cubes to make two towers and two crayons to make the symbol between the towers. After that we practiced writing the symbols on a worksheet. We just need to remember that the mouth opens to the larger number.

Heat was the topic in Science class today. We talked about things that give off heat.

Finally, it was time for Art. Today we decorated Easter eggs using paint. We dipped a pom-pom ball into paint and stamped it on our egg. I'll post pictures on Monday once we finish them. We still need to glue them onto construction paper.

Enjoy your weekend!
