Greetings! Happy Spring! It is so exciting to say that winter is behind us. I am hoping that this week is the last round of cold weather.
We began our day by learning about St. Patrick. We met up with the other first grade and watched a video about his life.
In Language Arts class, we wrapped up our learning from last week. We practiced using our oral vocabulary words in sentences, read r-controlled ar words, found matches for irregular plurals and practiced using them in sentences, and wrote sentences using our sight words. To work on our fluency and comprehension, we partner read a story in our decodable readers and A Lost Button. We also read a short selection about sorting objects. Finally, we practiced joining sentences together.
Money was again the focus in Math class. Today we learned how to count nickels and pennies. Our biggest thing to remember is that the coins are called nickels and not quarters!
Tomorrow will be another exciting day in first grade!
