Greetings! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! I apologize for this post being so late. I was busy painting my bathroom this weekend. I encountered a few hiccups that were easily fixed. That is one project that is done!
Friday was such an awesome day in first grade. In Religion class we talked about about what it means to be peacemakers. We said that anytime that we say, do, or think something kind that we are being peacemakers.
Language Arts class was really productive on Friday. We used our oral vocabulary words in sentences, practiced reading r-controlled vowel words, used inflectional ending -er words in sentences, and wrote sentences using our sight words. Next we read a story in our decodable reader booklets and read a short nonfiction piece about the moon. After reading the latter, we completed pages in our close reading companion. Finally, we practiced finding adjectives in sentences and writing sentences using adjectives.
Money was the topic in Math class today. We looked at various bills and learned how to identify the amount each bill is worth. We then practiced writing dollar amounts using the dollar sign and decimal point.
Science class was a hit today! We talked about light and how shadows are made when something blocks the light. The students were then divided into groups with each group getting a flashlight. They then used the flashlight to make shadows of different objects in the classroom. They loved this!
We ended our week with Art class. Today we made Easter bunnies using marshmallows. They look adorable!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
