Greetings on this sunny March day! I hope everyone enjoyed the sunshine today. Just seeing the sun makes me think of spring and brings a smile to my face.
In Religion class today we continued our Lenten journal reflection page. Today we focused on praying to Jesus. We talked about what it means to pray, where we can pray, and things to pray about. As we get closer to Holy Week we are reminded to continue our Lenten observance of prayer.
We began Language Arts by reading in our small groups and completing activities in Seesaw. After that, we began a new week of learning; this week our focus is on sounds. We learned our five new oral vocabulary words (volume, senses, distracted, nervous, and squeaky). We listened to a fable and answered questions after reading the story. Next, we learned how to blend and read words with ow and ou, words like town and loud. Following that, we learned our new sight words and vocabulary words. We ended our morning by reading Now, What's That Sound, a realistic fiction story about children trying to figure out what is making a sound.
This afternoon in Language Arts, we learned when to use a and an in sentences. We also wrote our first persuasive paragraph; we wrote about why we love the zoo.
In Math class today, we learned how to subtract with regrouping. It is taking some time getting used to regrouping a ten for ten ones. We will continue practicing tomorrow.
As promised, here is a picture from Friday's Art class. Enjoy!
