Greetings! Happy St. Patrick's Day! I hope everyone had a lucky day today! I loved hearing the stories about the leprechaun traps this morning. Everyone was so excited to share what happened. I was smiling under my mask!
Our Religion class today was devoted to St. Patrick. We watched a short video on the life of St. Patrick. Afterwards, we talked about how he always prayed to God even when things were hard. We discussed how we, too, can pray to God when things are rough.
In Language Arts class, we reviewed our oral vocabulary, read r-controlled -or, -ore, and -oar words, read abbreviations, and used our sight words and vocabulary words in sentences. We then worked on our fluency and comprehension. We partner read a story in our decodable reader booklets. Following that, we read a biography about Thomas Edison. After reading the story, we wrote and illustrated one problem and solution from the story. Finally, we practiced using adjectives that compare in sentences.
In Math class today we practiced subtracting two two-digit numbers. We know to begin by subtracting the ones and then the tens. The key for us is to remember to count backwards.
In Spanish class today we reviewed and practiced the Spanish words for milk, cheese, salad, juice, potato, and orange.
Finally, we ended our day with a fun St. Patrick's Day writing project. The children wrote the steps they took to try to catch the leprechaun. They then added a leprechaun to their writing.
Just a reminder that tomorrow is a jean day! May your Irish eyes always be smiling!
