Preparing for Holy Week!

Greetings! I hope everyone had a nice Friday and didn't get blown away! It sure was a windy day! We had a great early dismissal day in first grade.

In Religion class, we began our study of Holy Week. Today we focused on Palm Sunday. We read the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem. We talked about how the people greeted him by waving palm branches and shouting Hosanna. We then made our own mosaic palm branches.

We wrapped up another week of learning in Language Arts. We used our oral vocabulary words in sentences, read words with diphthong ou and ow and words with the inflectional endings -er and -est. We also wrote sentences using our sight words and took our weekly assessment. We ended class by coloring a doctor. We added band-aids around him and wrote 'ou' words on them.

We had an early lunch. We then watched The Proud Tree, a short video about a tree who boasts and brags who then has a change of heart as he becomes the cross that Jesus dies on. It is a great video about humility and love and prepared us for Holy Week.

Here are pictures from our Easter egg writing project:

Have a great weekend!
