Greetings on this first day of March. I hope everyone had a nice weekend!
In Religion class today, we focused on our Lenten journal. This week we talked about sharing. We defined what it means to share, gave examples of sharing at home and in school, and talked about how Jesus shared fishes and loaves with 5,000 people. As we continue throughout this week and Lent, we will focus on sharing with others.
We began Language Arts by working in our small reading groups. We then began a new week of learning which will focus on sorting and classifying objects. We learned five new oral vocabulary words (distinguish, classify, entire, organize, startled). We then worked on making predictions as we read the classic fable "Goldilocks and The Three Bears." Next, we learned how to blend and read r-controlled ar words; it was fun reading like a pirate today. After that, we learned our new sight words and vocabulary words. We ended the morning practicing our new skills as we read A Barn Full of Hats.
This afternoon we worked on joining sentences together using the words and, but, and or.
In Math class today, we practiced continuing patterns, finding more and less than a number, and using our critical thinking skills to solve problems.
This week is Read Across America week. In honor of this week, we will be reading a Dr. Seuss book a day and completing an activity that goes along with the book. Today we read If I Ran The Zoo. After reading the story, we created our own animal for the zoo, gave it a name, told what it eats and where it lives. The students were quite creative with this!
Just a reminder that tomorrow is a virtual day. Please check your email for important information!
