Greetings! We had a great day of in person learning today! Again, thank you so much for yesterday. I really appreciate all that you did!
In Religion class today we learned about the words and actions that are part of the sacrament of Baptism. We learned that before a baby is baptized, the priest, parents, and godparents trace the Sign of the Cross on the baby's forehead. Then, water is poured over the baby as the priest says special words.
Language Arts was full of learning today. We reviewed our oral vocabulary words. We practiced reading r-controlled -ar words. We also practiced identifying the plural of words when there is a spelling change. In addition, we practiced our sight words and vocabulary words. After that we partner read a story in our decodable reader. Following that, we read A Lost Button, a chapter from the classic book Frog and Toad. The students really got into this story. After reading it, we worked in our close reading companion that focused on the characters' point of view. We ended our morning by practicing joining sentences together and capitalizing proper nouns.
In Math class today, we took our test on the numbers to 40. Tomorrow we will begin learning how to add without regrouping.
In Spanish today, we continued to practice the names of items in a classroom. The students drew a picture of a classroom. Then we took time to label the items in their pictures.
We ended our day with Dr. Seuss fun. Yesterday, we read Green Eggs and Ham. Today we put green eggs together by matching the rhyming words. We then read The Cat in the Hat. After the story we wrote about what we would do if the Cat in the Hat came to our house. We then completed a directive drawing project where we illustrated a Cat in the Hat. I'll post pictures of them tomorrow.
Have a great night!
